Welcome to SmartHealth Magazine Issue 002

by | Jul 12, 2022

We are delighted to publish the summer edition of SmartHealth magazine – The Prevention Issue focusing on stories that gravitate towards a
general theme of preventative healthcare. Innovation and technology play an ever-critical role when it comes to creating the most effective patient care systems and directing the way in which we manage – and in some cases prevent – many of the chronic illnesses and conditions
we live and battle with as a society day-to-day.

Technology in the hands of inventive and innovative minds creates real opportunities in which to transform how we approach medicine, health services and life itself. Preventing illness and curing disease quickly and effectively lessens the burden on over-worked healthcare
systems. Quality digital structures and services help to improve quality levels and boost patient health to the greater benefit of society as a whole.

This edition includes an in depth look at precision oncology, how Ireland has become a healthcare trinity in this area through the effective collaboration of those working in the business, academic and charity worlds. Personalised care in the fight against cancers is proving to be a gamechanger and it has inspired our cover for this edition of the magazine.

We also look at the revolutionising rise of femtech – Ireland’s inspiring entrepreneurs who, supported by the country’s large tech firms and public bodies, are creating a network of female-led start-ups to find much-needed and preventative solutions to conditions affecting women.

These have often previously been underserviced or neglected and so are a welcome addition to the Irish healthcare ecosystem.
We also congratulate HealthTech Ireland on celebrating 40 years as a leading advocate for manufacturers, developers and distributors of tech products and solutions to the Irish market. CEO Susan Treacy provides a valuable insight into this vital association’s four decade
journey that continues today stronger than ever.

iQuest and Business Post Live continue to work towards creating stronger leadership networks and supporting expert voices within the industry. We are now looking forward to our series of autumn health events. The annual SmartHealth Summit, one of our flagship gatherings, takes place on September 28 while this year’s Cyber Security Summit will welcome attendees to Croke Park on October 18.

We invite you to connect with us and be part of the conversation about how innovation and technology
are changing the Irish health landscape for the better.
