by | Dec 21, 2022

Welcome to SmartHealth’s winter edition where we consider how the concept of change through technology can be applied to the healthcare system in Ireland.

To change, is by its very definition, to transform.

In this, The Change Edition, we meet some of those who have fully embraced a journey of transformation and are committed to making a difference in how healthcare is delivered to greater improve the overall experience and quality for both patient and practitioner.

Ahead of next February’s 19th National Health Summit, we meet some of those taking part in the conversation around how best to take stock and move forward with reforms on service delivery within a complex and challenging health system.

Worldwide, as in Ireland, healthcare is undergoing fundamental change as it faces mammoth challenges to redress imbalances and create better ecosystems.

Technology is helping with this.

Nursing has always been a vital part of the healthcare landscape in Ireland and it is from this foundation that Tallaght University Hospital CEO Lucy Nugent shares her experience of healthcare and technology. You can read her leadership viewpoint in this edition’s Insight feature from page 14.

This is just one of the many perceptive and thought-provoking stories you will discover in this edition of SmartHealth. We hope you enjoy reading them.

From all of the SmartHealth team, we wish you a happy and healthy season ahead and look forward to reconnecting in 2023.
